The BlueRobotics Fathom ROV Tether 4 Twisted Pairs, 300m is a professional-grade tether designed for robust subsea applications, offering a combination of strength, durability, and high-performance electrical characteristics. This tether is specifically engineered for remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and other underwater applications, featuring a neutrally buoyant design that ensures optimal performance in various aquatic environments. The tether is equipped with a pre-installed Binder 770 connector and WetLink Penetrator, facilitating seamless integration with the BlueROV2 and other watertight enclosures.
The tether's slim profile, with diameters of 4mm and 7.6mm, significantly reduces drag, making it ideal for deep, high-current, and long-distance dives. This design enhances portability and ease of handling, with a 100-meter length weighing only 3 lb (1.4 kg). The tether incorporates four unshielded twisted pairs (UTP) of 26AWG wire, arranged similarly to a Cat5 networking cable, providing crosstalk resistance and reliable communication. The core of the cable is reinforced with Kevlar strands for strength and Dacron fibers for space filling, both impregnated with a water-blocking compound to prevent leaks from nicks or rips.
The high-visibility yellow polyurethane foam jacket offers abrasion resistance and maintains neutral buoyancy, while the cable's flexibility prevents tangling, ensuring freedom of movement for the ROV. This tether is designed to provide versatility and adaptability for a wide range of subsea applications, with a maximum rated depth of 950 meters and a design lifetime of three years or 500 cycles to the rated depth.
