The BlueRobotics Subsea Buoyancy Foam: R-3318 (24 in X 8 in X 2.5 In) is designed for use in remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), and various marine robotics applications. This foam can be machined, glued, painted, and coated to create floats of any desired size or shape.
LAST-A-FOAM® R-3318 is a hydrostatic, pressure-resistant foam that provides underwater buoyancy. Its closed-cell structure is engineered to resist water penetration, making it suitable for resin-transfer molding as a core material due to its resistance to many fluids and resins. This semi-submersible foam is ideal for shallow to mid-water underwater robotics applications.
Additionally, this subsea polyurethane foam is utilized in training operations for the International Space Station, offering buoyancy for assembly components in pools that simulate weightlessness.
The foam is easy to machine, coat, and paint, and it boasts excellent compressive and insulation properties. It is resistant to hydrostatic pressure, high impact, oil, grease, and solvents. The material is biologically inert, does not rot or decay, and performs well in both freshwater and saltwater environments. Furthermore, it is compatible with many types of adhesives, providing a cost-effective solution for various marine applications.
