Description

  • Cytron 30A 5-30V Single Brushed DC Motor Driver
  • Bi-directional control for 1 brushed DC motor
  • Maximum current: 80A peak (1 second), 30A continuously
  • Motor voltage: 5V - 30V
  • 3.3V and 5V logic level input

The 30A 5-30V Single Brushed DC Motor Driver is designed to drive medium to high power brushed DC motor with current capacity up to 80A peak and 30A continuously. Fully NMOS design not only provides faster switching time, it is also more efficient and no heat sink or fan is required. Besides that, it also incorporates some user friendly features such as reverse polarity protection and onboard PWM generator which allows it to operate without a host controller. The motor can simply be controlled with the onboard switches and speed potentiometer. External switches and potentiometer can also be used.

Great driver

Quite big for a driver but then again, I am driving a lot of power through it. Ahhh the joys of running big things using small controllers :-). Had to change the jumpers so that my Raspberry PI could control it. After that, worked like a charm. Using it to open a large entrance gate.

Good product

After buying a cheap Chinese unit that failed right out of the box, I found this company and decided to give their product a try. The unit works perfectly, is well built, and well designed as far as I can tell with my limited electronic experience.

Working Well

Its been a year. I do not use it much but this device is working well. I am using it to drive a wheel chair motor. I use PWM and I also instantly reverse it. I have not noticed any heat or other troubles. The buttons are really helpful for checking things. I am driving mine with an Arduino.

Very good motor board

We are buying these boards for several times now and they are very reliable. Read their description carefully and you won't have any problems.

Nice motor controllers

Purchased 4 of these for a school robot. We're using these with motors that operate at 27A under normal load, but pull 68A at full load and stall at 133A. So far they haven't failed. We accidentally broke off the small inductor (seen directly above the capacitor on the right in the photo) on one of them, but were able to solder it back on. The motor controllers operate directly off of the PWM signal from an MSP430F5529LP microcontroller. We're operating two motor controllers in parallel from one output pin on the microcontroller without having to amplify the signal. The on-board switches and potentiometer are nice, since you only have to hook up power in order to test motors. It can also be easily configured for use with external switches and potentiometers, as well as PWM input from microcontrollers.
