  • Covers frequencies from 70 MHz to 6 GHz
  • Integrates Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA
  • Supports 2x2 MIMO with coherent capability
  • Transfers data via SuperSpeed USB 3.0
  • Enables development with GNU Radio

The Digilent Ettus USRP B210: 2x2, 70MHz-6GHz SDR/Cognitive Radio is a comprehensive, single-board platform designed for universal software radio applications. It offers continuous frequency coverage from 70 MHz to 6 GHz, making it suitable for a wide array of experimental and developmental purposes. The device integrates the AD9361 RFIC direct-conversion transceiver, which provides up to 56 MHz of real-time bandwidth, and is equipped with a reprogrammable Spartan-6 FPGA. Connectivity is facilitated through SuperSpeed USB 3.0, ensuring fast data transfer and efficient processing.

This platform is fully compatible with the USRP Hardware Driver (UHD) software, allowing users to engage in development with GNU Radio and prototype various applications such as GSM base stations using OpenBTS. The USRP B210 supports seamless code transition to more advanced USRP platforms, providing a scalable solution for evolving project requirements. An optional enclosure accessory kit is available for users with green PCB devices, offering additional protection with a steel case.

The USRP B210 is ideal for low-cost software-defined radio (SDR) experimentation across diverse applications, including FM and TV broadcasting, cellular networks, GPS, WiFi, and ISM bands. It supports coherent MIMO capability, utilizing both signal chains of the AD9361 transceiver. The onboard signal processing is managed by the Spartan-6 FPGA, which interfaces with a host PC via USB 3.0, delivering a real-time throughput benchmarked at 61.44 MS/s quadrature. This setup provides the full 56 MHz of instantaneous RF bandwidth for further processing using GNU Radio or other applications compatible with the UHD API.

The hardware is accessible through the UHD, which offers both C++ and Python APIs, supporting all USRP products and enabling efficient application development. UHD is cross-platform, available on Linux, Windows, and Mac OS, and supports various industry-standard development environments, including RFNoC, LabVIEW, and MATLAB/Simulink. For those who prefer graphical programming, GNU Radio offers a free, open-source framework for designing applications.

Note: Ensure proper handling and usage within the specified operating temperature range of 0 - 45 °C to maintain optimal performance and safety.
