Litter-Robot 3 Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box EU

I've had my LR3 Connect for nearly 3 years and it started breaking down and needing replacement parts just after a year requiring a few hours DIY and opening up to replace failed parts. Now 3 years in, the Pinch Sensor keeps playing up and now the globe continues to do a full circle instead of reversing direction to replace the clean litter. Lots of stress, incredibly unreliable and super expensive for the build quality. Avoid and wait for something better!

I've been using 2 Litter Robot 3 for over 2 years! They are going really well and everything is great so far. But unfortunately the DFI sensor is regularly defective, i.e. every 4-6 months and it always costs around 90 € which is quite expensive. If this annoying and expensive defect were not constant, I would recommend the toilets to many, but a layman can hardly replace the part.

I have two cats and I had to clean their litter box every day. Now with Litter Robot I do this once a week. It’s wonderful! The cats got used to it from the first day. I’m using bentonite as litter. Tried using other products, but they were very coarse and got filtered out in the process. You need to use a product that’s very fine and clumps easily and fast. I am also amazed that there’s no smell coming out even after a week. Although this is an expensive buy, I truly recommend it (if you have the budget).

Bought this litter robot 3 with the intention of it making my life easier. For the first few weeks I thought it was great. It was working how it should and my cats were happily using it. However, that's when the problems started. It was very temperamental. The sensor kept saying there was a fault. It started saying I needed to empty when it wasn't even full and although it was cleaned out regularly the smell of cat pee had seeped into the rubber and I just couldn't get the smell out. I was paranoid about my house smelling and my family started to refuse to come round because of the stench this was leaving. It made my house feel dirty despite me cleaning the device more often than is recommended. By all means this device is not easy to clean anyway. Litter gets stuck everywhere and and you need to take it outside really to give a good clean. Not great on a rainy or cold day and it takes hours to dry so even if is a bit damp still the litter gets stuck right away after cleaning. This litter robot was supposed to make my life easier and be low maintenance but it just made it harder having to clean out more often and the replacement parts are just too expensive! It is expensive to buy the whole thing as it is, but when you are having to replace filters etc it's just not worth buying. Shame we kept it longer than the trial. Should have sent it back right away. We are back to a normal litter tray and it's just so much better. The idea is good but just doesn't work. Comment RobotShop: Hi Holly, thank you for your review. It is a dream, my dream in my house. This litter box is just about perfect and does exactly what it says on the packaging. Our cats took to it like they've never used anything else, and our kittens remains fascinated by the cleaning cycle, often standing on the entrance ramp to "see the action happen". For them it is like a toy. Robot really help me in my house.
