The Motoron M2h24v16 Dual High-Power Motor Controller for Raspberry Pi (Connectors Soldered) is a sophisticated device designed to manage DC motors via an I²C interface, specifically for Raspberry Pi (Model B+ or newer). It is capable of supporting motor supply voltages ranging from 6.5 V to 40 V and delivering continuous output currents up to 16 A for each motor. This particular model comes with aluminum standoffs, soldered stackable headers, and terminal blocks.

The M2H series of dual high-power motor controller add-on boards are designed to facilitate the control of two bidirectional, brushed DC motors with a compatible Raspberry Pi. These controllers are engineered to stack on top of a Raspberry Pi, similar to a HAT (Hardware Attached on Top), and can be stacked on top of each other, thus enabling independent control of multiple motors.

The M2H24v16 controller is distinguished from other M2H controllers by its larger discrete MOSFETs and the number 100 on the tall silver electrolytic capacitors. The 5mm blue terminal blocks are rated for up to 16 A, hence for higher-current applications, it is advisable to acquire an unsoldered version and then solder thick wires directly to the board.

This controller is equipped with two motor control channels for independent control of up to two bidirectional brushed DC motors, reverse-voltage protection on motor power supply, and a logic voltage range of 3.0 V to 5 V. It features a control interface with an I²C clock speed of up to 400 kHz, configurable motion parameters, current sensing, configurable hardware current limiting, a command timeout feature, motor power supply (VIN) voltage measurement, two status LEDs, and motor direction indicator LEDs. It is also compatible with a Motoron Python library for easy use with Python or MicroPython and comes with a comprehensive user’s guide.

Please note that the absolute maximum motor supply voltage is not intended for use with 36 V batteries. For higher-current applications, it is recommended to use an unsoldered version and solder thick wires directly to the board.
