Description
Contain an I2C-controlled PWM driver with a built-in clock
12-bit resolution for each output - for servos
Support using only two pins to control 16 free-running PWM outputs
3-pin connectors in groups of 4
The PCA9685 16-Channel 12-Bit PWM Servo Driver can help a lot when there are insufficient PWM output pins for the MCU in your project. The only condition is that the main control chip supports I2C communication, which means enabling the communication between the chip and PCA9685, so as to control multiple servos simultaneously.
Tested for drone ESC control to control asynchronous motors. Still in I2C on raspberry Pi

Perfectly does this why it is planned.
This module allows me to control a robot arm inmoov using a raspberry pi in I2C. All libs and programming examples are available online.

Best Robot Glockenspiel on Youtube
With the Adafruit PCA9685 I was able to control 8 servos for my robot Glockenspiel. I could not of built a faster or a responsive machine with out this driver board. I have posted a video of my Robot Glockspiel playing "Popcorn". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69pGYTYSEug
