I recently purchased this item from robotshop. I will split my review into two parts. First I want to review RobotShop.com. When I ordered this item, it was on backorder. They sent me a confirmation of the order with an estimated delivery date. This was great, no hunting. Then 2 days prior to the expected ship date, the item shipped. I was also informed via email. There was no hunting. Therefore I give Robotshop.com 5 stars for service, as they have not disappointed me at this time. Review 2: PiRacer Pro Upon receiving the item, it was well packaged. There were no assembly instructions. There was no manual. The vendor website has a link to the wiki page. On the wiki page, there is no assembly instructions. There is also no system schematics, nor are there any diagrams. That being said, looking at a picture of the finished item, it is not too hard to derive the necessary information to assemble it. It took some digging. The information regarding the batteries is spot on. Glad that I fished through the website enough to find the link which was oddly hidden. The instructions that Waveshare gives you on the wiki as to the installation of the donkeycar software is generic. Though it has a section where it specifies a whether you purchased the PiRacer Pro or PiRacer, the instructions are exactly the same. I am not sure whether that was intentional or not, I contacted the vendor about all of that. After following all the instructions provided, the car did not move as expected. Using the calibration program provided by the donkeycar platform, I determined that the hardware components work, the motor spins and the steering actuator works. I had to dig in a lot of the software files over the last 4 days, as well as do quite a bit of experimentation, but I got the car to work at least up to the point of the instructions. I will be posting the updated files and changes on my github in the next few days: github.com/robruzzo/PiRacerPro I am not sure how many have bought this item in the past. At least for now, I am satisfied. All of this is why it will be getting 3 stars. Unless you had a deep understanding of python, and some experience finding part numbers and datasheets, you would not have been able to set this up out of the box.
