The Pololu 50:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor HPCB 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Back Connector is a compact brushed DC motor equipped with a metal gearbox and an integrated encoder. The gearbox has a cross-section of 10×12 mm and features a 9 mm long, 3 mm diameter D-shaped output shaft. This motor is part of the Micro Metal Gearmotor family, which includes various gear ratios, motor windings, brushes, and encoder configurations. The high-power 6V motor utilizes long-life carbon brushes and offers robust performance at its nominal voltage.

The integrated encoder is a two-channel incremental Hall effect type, providing a resolution of 12 counts per revolution (CPR) of the motor shaft. This translates to approximately 617 CPR for the gearbox output shaft with a 50:1 gear ratio. The encoder features a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with corresponding cables and connector boards, though cables are sold separately. The encoder outputs digital signals indicating motor speed and direction.

The motors gearbox is constructed with brass plates, except for the 380:1 ratio, which uses steel plates for enhanced durability. The gearboxes are designed to handle specific torque limits to prevent damage. The motor can operate at voltages above and below its nominal value, though higher voltages may reduce its lifespan.

Note: Stalling or overloading the gearmotor can significantly reduce its lifespan and cause immediate damage. It is recommended to keep applied loads well below the specified torque limits to avoid thermal damage to the motor windings and brushes.
