The Pololu VL53L8CX Time-of-Flight Distance Sensor, 8x8 Zone, 4-m Range is a sophisticated carrier/breakout board designed to facilitate the use of STs VL53L8CX laser-ranging sensor. This sensor is capable of delivering fast and accurate distance measurements up to 4 meters. It utilizes a digital I²C or SPI interface for communication and is capable of measuring absolute distances to multiple targets simultaneously across multiple zones. This functionality enables the creation of a depth map with up to 8 resolutions. The sensor also exhibits enhanced performance in environments with ambient light, surpassing its predecessors in this aspect.

The board is engineered with voltage regulators and level shifters, ensuring compatibility with a range of input voltages from 3.2 V to 5 V. Additionally, the standard 0.1-inch pin spacing allows for seamless integration with common solderless breadboards and 0.1-inch perfboards, facilitating ease of use in various applications.

The use of this sensor with 8-bit microcontrollers is not recommended. For applications involving such microcontrollers, alternative options such as the VL53L1X, VL53L0X, or VL6180X carriers should be considered.
