The ServoCity 6A BEC / Voltage Regulator (6-24V Input, 5V, 6V, 8.4V, 12V Output, Screw Terminals) is a versatile component designed to reduce input voltage to one of four selectable output voltages. It features screw terminals that accommodate 14-26AWG stranded wires, making it highly adaptable for integration within the goBILDA® ecosystem. This device is commonly referred to as a Battery Eliminator Circuit (BEC) in the R/C hobbyist community, eliminating the need for additional batteries by providing the necessary voltage for various components. In electrical engineering, it is recognized as a switching regulator, specifically a buck converter, which efficiently steps down voltage from its input. The BEC requires an input voltage at least 1V higher than the selected output voltage, which defaults to 5V but can be adjusted to 6V, 8.4V, or 12V using an included jumper. It is crucial to ensure that the total current drawn by connected devices does not exceed 6A to prevent damage. Note: Ensure motors powered by this BEC do not exceed a stall current of 6A, as higher currents, such as those from Yellow Jacket Planetary Gear Motors, may cause incompatibility.
