The Sherline 8-Inch Tabletop Lathe with DRO Package A (Metric) (EU) is a compact yet highly precise machine designed for crafting small, precision parts. This lathe is equipped with a digital readout (DRO) system that includes a readout box and specialized handwheels with built-in electronic encoders. These encoders translate handwheel movements into a digital display of table travel across three axes, allowing for precise control and measurement. The DRO system can be reset to zero at any time, and it also displays spindle RPM when the motor is operational. This feature is adaptable for both inch and metric measurements, with the metric version showing positions to within 0.01 mm.
Constructed in the USA, this lathe is suitable for cutting a variety of materials, including wood, plastic, aluminum, and steel, thanks to its robust and accurate design. Despite its desktop size, it offers the precision and accuracy of a full-sized machine. The DRO system enhances the machining experience by simplifying the tracking of distance and direction, reducing the need for manual calculations and minimizing errors.
The lathe's power supply is versatile, automatically switching between 120V and 240V, making it suitable for use in countries with 220-240 volt electrical systems. However, a wall socket adapter may be necessary for use outside North America.
The A Package includes a 2.5-inch 3-jaw self-centering chuck and a 1/4-inch tailstock drill chuck with key, along with Morse arbors and a drawbolt. The lathe features a swing over bed of 90 mm, a swing over carriage of 45 mm, and a distance between centers of 200 mm. The spindle nose thread is 3/4-inch-16 T.P.I., with a spindle nose taper of #1 Morse and a spindle runout of 0.0005 inches or less. The crosslide travel is 110 mm, and the tailstock spindle taper is #0 Morse. The motor is a 90-volt DC with electronic speed control, offering a spindle speed range of 70-2800 RPM.
Included with the lathe are essential components such as pulleys, a drive belt, a faceplate, a lathe dog, two dead centers, three hexagonal keys, a tool post, a sharpened high-speed steel cutting tool, and an eight-foot three-wire power cord, along with an instruction manual.
Note: Ensure proper handling and operation to avoid injury or damage to the machine.
