The Sherline Carbide Insert RH 80° 3/8″ Boring Bar w/ 2 Flats is a versatile tool designed for use in converting a Sherline lathe into a chucker or gang-tooling lathe. This tool is particularly suitable for manufacturing parts with diameters of 1/2″ or smaller. The innovative design includes a second flat on the boring bar, allowing it to be held with the insert face up or down, thus enabling its use as both a boring and an outside diameter turning tool.
The boring bar features an 80-degree carbide insert, which is secured with a Torx screw, and is capable of fitting into a 3/4″ starting hole. The holder, made from 1144 Stress-proof steel with a black oxide finish, is 3-1/4″ long and can bore a hole slightly over 2″ deep. This robust construction provides strength for roughing cuts, while the design allows for reduced chip buildup when used with the insert face down.
Note: Ensure proper handling and secure fastening to prevent accidents during operation.
