The Sherline CNC Linear Controller w/ Stepper Motor (") is a versatile and programmable device designed to control the function of a stepper motor attached to any axis of a CNC-Ready Sherline machine. This controller operates independently, utilizing its own keypad for programming, and can be connected to multiple units via an 8-pin mini-DIN cable in a 'daisy chain' configuration. This setup allows the units to communicate and work sequentially, enabling complex movements without the need for a computer or a master CNC controller. Additionally, it can be integrated with existing CNC controllers for enhanced functionality.
The controller is capable of storing two separate programs, each comprising up to 40 operations. Within each operation block, users can define parameters such as distance, direction, speed, and whether the program should pause or continue to the next block. This flexibility allows for precise control over the machining process. Furthermore, the linear controller can be combined with Sherline's rotary controller to facilitate coordinated rotary and linear movements, making it suitable for advanced tasks like gear cutting without requiring extensive CNC programming knowledge.
