The Sherline Manual 17-Inch Benchtop Lathe Package C (Metric) (EU) is a versatile and precise machine designed for machinists who require additional space and precision in their work. This benchtop lathe offers a significant advantage with its 17-inch distance between centers, compared to the more compact 8-inch version. This extra space is particularly beneficial when working with parts held in a chuck alongside a larger tailstock chuck and a long drill bit, as it provides ample room for various components and operations.
This lathe is capable of turning parts up to 3.5 inches in diameter over the bed and up to 1.88 inches over the carriage without the need for riser blocks. With the optional riser block, it can handle parts up to 6 inches in diameter over the bed. The machine is equipped with an electronic speed control that allows for continuously variable speed adjustments ranging from 70 to 2,800 RPM, eliminating the need for belt changes. Additionally, a secondary pulley position is available to provide extra torque at lower RPMs when necessary.
