Sherline Zero Adjustable Handwheel 2.5" Z Axis (Metric, W/Bearings)
Offers precise zero reset feature
Includes ball thrust bearing set
Enhances efficiency and reduces errors
Designed for Z-axis machining
The Sherline Zero Adjustable Handwheel 2.5" Z Axis (Metric, W/Bearings) offers machinists the ability to reset the handwheel to zero or any desired setting during machining operations. This feature, typically found in full-size machine tools, is now available for Sherline's miniature machine tools. The handwheel is easily installed by releasing a single set screw, and its operation is straightforward. By releasing the black locking nut and adjusting the red handwheel collar to zero, users can precisely control the feed amount without complex calculations, enhancing efficiency and reducing errors.
This particular handwheel is designed specifically for the Z-axis of the mill or vertical milling column. It includes a ball thrust bearing set, which alleviates stress from the lifting action of the vertical Z-axis, a feature not present on other horizontal axes. This makes it an ideal upgrade for older machines, allowing them to benefit from the advanced functionality of newer models.
The handwheel is available in both inch and metric versions, providing flexibility for various machining needs. However, it is important to note that while standard 1⅝” handwheels can be replaced with 2” adjustable ones, the larger 2½” handwheels should not be used simultaneously on both the lathe leadscrew and tailstock due to potential interference.
