SparkFun Spectral UV Sensor AS7331 (Qwiic)
Measures UVA, UVB, UVC
High precision readings
Energy-saving modes
Easy I2C & Qwiic integration
Versatile UV monitoring
The SparkFun Spectral UV Sensor AS7331 (Qwiic) is equipped with the AS7331 UV sensor from ams OSRAM, designed to measure ultraviolet radiation across three distinct wavelengths: UVA, UVB, and UVC. This sensor boasts individual photodiodes for each channel, complemented by interference filters to ensure high sensitivity and precision in readings. It offers a variety of operating modes, including single and continuous measurements, as well as synchronized start and synchronized start and stop options, all featuring an automatic power-down sequence to conserve energy.
Communication with the AS7331 is facilitated through an I2C interface, and the sensor is compatible with the Qwiic Connect System, which utilizes a standardized 4-pin JST connector for easy and error-free connections. For those who prefer traditional methods, the sensor also provides a through-hole header for soldered connections, including pins for interrupt and sync functions. The sensor supports four I2C addresses, which can be selected via solder jumpers.
An Arduino library has been developed to streamline the configuration process and data acquisition from the AS7331, ensuring a user-friendly experience for those working with the sensor. The sensor's high dynamic range and multiple operating modes make it a versatile choice for a wide array of UV radiation monitoring applications.
Please note that the sensor should be handled with care, and exposure to high levels of UV radiation can be harmful. Always ensure that the sensor is used in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines to prevent damage or injury.
