The SparkFun ZED-F9R GPS-RTK Dead Reckoning Breakout, SMA (Qwiic) is an advanced automotive dead reckoning board designed for high-precision positioning. It leverages u-blox's Automotive Dead Reckoning technology to deliver continuous and accurate location data by integrating a 3D IMU sensor, wheel ticks, a vehicle dynamics model, correction data, and GNSS measurements. This device is capable of receiving signals from multiple satellite systems, including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou, achieving remarkable accuracy of approximately 0.01 meters through RTK navigation. It is particularly suitable for autonomous robotic applications that demand precise positioning in challenging environments.

The breakout board features dual Qwiic connectors and an integrated SMA connector for antenna attachment, enhancing its connectivity options. It is equipped with a 184-channel GNSS receiver and supports L1C/A and L2C bands, ensuring robust signal reception. The device offers a maximum navigation rate of up to 30Hz and can achieve a time to first fix as quickly as 2 seconds under optimal conditions. It is engineered to withstand high dynamics, with a maximum G-force tolerance of 4G, altitude capability up to 80 kilometers, and velocity handling up to 500 meters per second.

Incorporating a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, the breakout board provides additional motion sensing capabilities. It supports various protocols, including NMEA, UBX, and RTCM, over UART or I2C interfaces, and is software configurable for features such as geofencing, odometer, spoofing detection, and low power mode. The device operates on a voltage of 5V or 3.3V, with logic levels at 3.3V, and consumes current ranging from approximately 85mA to 130mA. An onboard rechargeable battery maintains RTC and GNSS orbit data.
