The Waveshare RM500U-CNV 5G HAT for Raspberry Pi, Quad Antennas LTE-A, Multi Band, 5G/4G/3G (UK) is a versatile module designed to enhance connectivity for Raspberry Pi and Jetson Nano devices. It integrates extensive network protocols and supports multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and Android, ensuring broad compatibility. The module features a USB 3.1 port, which is also compatible with USB 2.0, facilitating high-speed 5G communication when connected to a host board.
This HAT includes a standard M.2 B KEY slot, making it compatible with various 5G modules such as the RM500U-CNV series. It is equipped with onboard UART, power, and reset control pins, along with a built-in voltage level translator, which can be enabled via a DIP switch for seamless integration with hosts like Raspberry Pi or Arduino. Additionally, the onboard USB-C connector allows for a standalone power supply, providing a stable and flexible power source.
The module is designed with user convenience in mind, featuring an onboard power supply on/off switch, a reset button, and an LED indicator to easily monitor the operating status. It supports dual SIM card slots with single standby, switchable via AT command, and boasts a high-efficiency power supply circuit capable of delivering up to 3A output current.
Supporting 5G, 4G, and 3G networking, the HAT is compatible with both NSA and SA 5G networks, as well as 4G/3G internet. It also supports multi-constellation high-precision GNSS, including GPS, Beidou, Glonass, and Galileo, although GNSS is not available for the RM500U-CNV module. The standard Raspberry Pi 40PIN GPIO header and stackable design allow for easy integration and expansion with additional HATs.
The module is equipped with a high-speed cooling fan to ensure efficient heat dissipation for both the Raspberry Pi and the 5G module. It offers multiple installation methods, making it suitable for various applications such as 5G wireless routers and live streaming.
